I love to paint landscapes…New Mexico is rich with beautiful vistas! One of my most recent paintings is of the Kimo Theatre (something different to paint!) in Albuquerque. It’s a night scene, with many patrons standing out in front of the theatre talking after the show had let out…this is the first time I have painted any people…they are very primitive people, but I think they make the painting interesting! I will try to add a photo of this painting this evening. The Kimo Theatre (Kimo means “king”…it’s a Native American word) is an historical landmark in Albuquerque…I think it was built in the 1920’s. It has been restored and is a “must-see” if you are visiting Albuquerque…lots of interesting southwestern/native american decor. I especially enjoy all of the beautiful murals that line the walls in the lobby area. The Kimo is still used as a theatre where live shows are put on.
